Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy ( born August 26, 1970 in Plainfield, Illinois ) is an American actress.

Life

Career

Melissa McCarthy began her career with stand-up performances in New York City, where she at the same time also took acting classes at the Actors Studio. After moving into the film capital Los Angeles McCarthy joined the sketch troupe The Groundlings Main Company, which offered her the opportunity to weekly performances. Since 1998 McCarthy plays always small roles in movies; so they could be seen among others in the film version of Charlie's Angels 3 and alongside Kevin Spacey in The Life of David Gale. In 2000, she won the role of the chaotic chef Sookie St. James on the hit series Gilmore Girls, she embodied 2007 until the end of the series.

As of October 2007, she starred alongside Christina Applegate in the sitcom Samantha Who? with. Since September 2010, McCarthy plays the lead role of Molly in the series Mike & Molly. For this role she won an Emmy in 2011 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. In 2012 she received an Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actress for her role as Megan in Bridesmaids.

Private life

Melissa McCarthy is the cousin of actress Jenny McCarthy. McCarthy is married to actor Ben Falcone. The wedding took place in Los Angeles on October 8, 2005. On 5 May 2007, she then brought her first child, a daughter, was born. In March 2010, the couple had another daughter.
