Melissa Wu

Melissa Wu (born 3 May 1992, Penrith ) is an Australian water jumper, which starts from the ten-meter tower and was able to win medals at World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. She is 1.52 meters tall and weighs 50 kilograms. The father of Melissa Wu is from the People's Republic of China.

At the age of 13 years, Wu was part of the Australian team at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. There she won along with Alexandra Croak the silver medal in synchronized diving. In individual competition Melissa Wu finished fifth. With these successes, Wu received more attention for the first time. The following year, she participated in the World Swimming Championships in 2007, which also took place in Melbourne. In synchronized competition Wu reached with Briony Cole took second place from the tower, in a single, it reached the finals and eventually finished in eleventh place. Melissa Wu was part of the Australian team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she was the youngest member. There they started along with Briony Cole in synchronized competition from the tower. The two won the silver medal after they underperformed the third best jump in any round. Melissa Wu was making her the youngest Australian medalist in the water jump. In single- Wu could reach sixth place after they failed to qualify in eighth position of the Vorkampfes and the semi-finals. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi she succeeded with silver from the tower her first individual medal, with Cole also won gold in the tower synchronous competition. At the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, she won the silver medal with Croak.
