Mellie Francon

Mellie Francon ( born January 24, 1982 in La Chaux -de-Fonds ) is a Swiss snowboarder.

Francon qualified in addition to the later Olympic champion Tanja Frieden and Olivia Nobs for the Swiss team in boardercross for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. They finally won the small final and finished fifth final rank.

In the Snowboard World Cup 2007/ 08 she won a total of five times a podium finish ( 2nd place twice, three times 3rd place), which was enough to place 3 in the overall World Cup Boarder Crosser. In the current season Francon was at the World Cup race in Chapelco second.

In the Snowboard World Championships 2009 in Gangwon, she was third in the discipline snowboard cross.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver Francon scored a seventh place in the snowboard cross. In qualifying it twice set the fastest time. Even the quarter- final run, she won sovereign. In the semifinals, then ran it under a mistake and she was in her last run. In the small final they reached number 3 and thus the final seventh rank after a second under braking.
