Melnikovo, Tomsk Oblast

Melnikovo (Russian Мельниково ) is a village in the Tomsk Oblast (Russia) with 8377 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The village is located in the West Siberian Plain, about 50 km as the crow flies west of Oblastverwaltungszentrums Tomsk, about five miles from the left bank of the Ob station, from which it is separated by one along the river extending wetland, the Ob - sump ( Obskoje Boloto ).

History

Economy and infrastructure

Melnikovo is the center of an agricultural area of regional importance, with various factories for processing agricultural products. An important role is played by the collection and processing of wild fruits.

The village lies on the R398 regional road from Tomsk to Kolpashevo that the Ob opened there on a 1987 645 -meter long bridge ( Schegarski most) crossing and the location bypasses south.
