Melvin Frank

Melvin Frank ( born August 13, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois, † October 13, 1988 in Los Angeles ) was an American screenwriter and film director.

Life

Melvin Frank learned while studying in Chicago Norman Panama know. As a duo, they wrote numerous plays and radio shows. In 1941, their cooperation is also extended to the film. There they were initially employed as scriptwriters and were from the beginning of the 1950s also result in the majority of their films to direct myself. Frank and Panama were almost exclusively in the comedy trade successfully and worked repeatedly with actors Danny Kaye and Bob Hope together. The mid-1960s ended the artistic collaboration. In his career, Frank was nominated five times for an Oscar. The Writers Guild of America honored him in 1984 with the Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement. In 1974 he won the WGA Award.
