Membranelle

The membrane Elle is called an organelle in ciliates. These are numerous, seemingly interconnected eyelashes that form a standing triangle, at the base, however, as a rectangle of usually 3 or 5, occasionally 2 or 4 solid rows are arranged from kinetosomes. The kinetosomes are connected by fibrils. They usually serve as a functional unit for inducing swirls of food, rarely for locomotion.

Presumably, the organelles labeled with this term are not homologous.

Ciliates from the group of Spirotrichea have a composite of several Membranell series called adorale Elle membrane zone ( AZM), which leads into the buccal cavity. Ciliates from the group of Hymenostomatia, however, have the left side of the buccal cavity, the Membranell, right side, however, an undulating membrane.
