Memorandum of Understanding

Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU short ) is an English term that refers to a letter of intent under future treaty partners. It is a document that sets the framework for a contract to be concluded. This agreement in principle has no legal binding effect, so it can not be sued in court.

In Germany, the term is often used synonymously punctuation, although a native of the Austrian term actually describes already legally binding agreements.

MoUs are most often completed as part of the negotiation of acquisition agreements. In addition MoUs also be completed as an intergovernmental agreements, as these - unlike international treaties - must not be ratified, but be completed informally.
