Memphis Wings

The Memphis Wings were an American ice hockey franchise of the Central Professional Hockey League from Memphis, Tennessee.

History

The franchise of the Cincinnati Wings of the Central Professional Hockey League became the season 1964/65 to Memphis, Tennessee, relocated and renamed Memphis Wings. It was named the team following the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League, their farm team she was. In its three years of existence, the Memphis Wings occupied always a midfield place in the Central Professional Hockey League and was finally due to the declining audience section to Fort Worth, Texas, resettled, where the franchise was then operating under the name of Fort Worth Wings in the league.

The gap left by the Wings in the city, was founded in 1967 replaced by the Memphis South Stars after the Minnesota North Stars of the NHL settled their farm team in Memphis.
