Menaechmus

Menaechmus (c. 380 BC; † around 320 BC ) was a Greek mathematician, BC discovered around 360 in the search for the doubling cube conics which he examined at Plato's Academy on the basis of a truncated model. His brother, mathematician and surveyor, was Dinostratus.

What is certain is that he discovered the parabola and the hyperbola. The terms for this, however, were later influenced by Apollonius of Perga.
