Mendocino is a place north of San Francisco in California in Mendocino County. Mendocino is not really a coherent place, it is a 894 inhabitants comprehensive area that is as Census-designated place, a defined settlement area for statistical purposes, are reported.

The place on the California Pacific Coast is known as an artist colony. Many houses are built in a traditional setting, today often lovingly cared for and restored. Something unusual for the U.S. are the many colorful cottage gardens which extend in front of and behind the houses.

The coast west of the town is situated rough and rocky, some sandy beaches are located a few miles north and south. The town is located on the famous and tourist attractions road California State Route 1

The place name in Germany was known by Michael Holm Mendocino (1969 ), a cover version of the same song of the Sir Douglas Quintet. In addition, here also the shooting of the film East of Eden took place.

In 2006, the Mendocino Film Festival was held for the first time there.

IT Name

Mendocino was also named for various IT projects.

So Intel introduced in August 1998 before a variant of its consumer Celeron CPU, which was known as Mendocino.

Microsoft and SAP in April 2005 chose this place as a namesake for an integration project because of its geographical location between the SAP Labs in Palo Alto, California and Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond ( Washington). This project Mendocino had to link the goal of Microsoft Office programs with the SAP NetWeaver application platform, which led to applications such as Duet.
