Mendocino Range

Mendocino Range ( also Mendozino Mountains ) is an informal term for a part of the California coastal mountain range in northern California. It is located in north-south direction between the Pacific coast and the valley of the Eel River in the north, or the Russian River in the south. The two river valleys separate the Mendocino Range of the parallel Mayacamas Mountains. The village lies at the foot of the Mendocino mountains.

The Mendocino Range begins in southern Humboldt County and includes Bear Mountain, Rainbow Ridge and the Grasshopper Peak, the highest mountain in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, with a. The area is characterized by mature trees, including coast redwoods, Douglas fir and Grand Fir.

The Mendocino Range is also home to various species of animals such as elk, American black bear, various species of fish such as king salmon or rainbow trout, as well as various species of birds, including the Marmelalk and bald eagles.
