Menelik I.

According to the Ethiopian legend of the Kebra Nagast is Menelik (* in Ethiopia ) the son of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba (1000 BC ).

Menelik to have been born in Ethiopia. In his 20th year he is said to have visited his father in Jerusalem. According to legend, his real birth name Bäynä Ləhkəm was ( translated from Arabic ' Ibn -Hakim " ," son of the wise man " ), the name Menelik derived from the exclamation of Solomon at the first sight of his son. Menelik means in Amharic "How did you get here? ".

After a while at the court of Solomon the elders complained that Solomon doing him too much favor. Menelik was to be sent back to Ethiopia. Salomon accepted the decision of the elders under the condition that all first-born sons of the elders went along as an accompaniment. The firstborn of the high priest of Israel, Azarius, is said to have the Ark stolen from the Holy of Holies in the temple and taken away. When Menelik learned of the act, he decided that the charge should be taken to Ethiopia. Back in his home was Menelik ( I) according to legend, the first king of Ethiopia. However, there is no historical basis for the former existence of Menelik I of Ethiopia.
