Menes of Pella

Menes (Greek Μένης; † after 331 BC ), son of Dionysius of Pella, was a soldier of the Macedonian king Alexander the Great.

He was in 333 BC during the Asia campaign in the ranks of the bodyguard of the King ( somatophylakes ) was added as a replacement for Balakros. In the year 331 BC Menes was appointed in Susa for hyparchos the provinces Phoenicia, Syria, and Cilicia, with which a supervision of the civil and financial management in these provinces was connected. For this he received from the king handed over 3000 people, with the commission to let the regent of Macedonia, Antipater come, when financial support for its fight against the Spartans. Likewise, he should organize the ship transporting several veterans to Macedonia.

His position among the bodyguards was then given to Perdiccas.
