Menoetius (mythology)

Menoitios (Greek Μενοίτιος " destroyed Strength" Latinized, Menoetius ) In Greek mythology, a son of the Titan Iapetus and the Oceanid Asia and brother of Atlas, Prometheus and Epimetheus.

He was a glorious warrior, but he offended Zeus and this threw a lightning bolt at him. According to other sources, he was only crippled and banished to Tartarus.

Perhaps he is identical with the Menoites or Menoitios, the shepherd of Hades on Erythia of Geryon notified when Heracles stole the herd.
