Mensch (Album)

Man is the eleventh studio album of the German musician Herbert Grönemeyer. It was published in August 2002 in Greenland Records.

It is considered the most commercially successful album Grönemeyer. With over 3.1 million copies sold, it is the biggest selling album in Germany.

The album was awarded for the first time with platinum before the publication due to the pre-orders and reached number one in the German album charts. The single man was the first title Grönemeyer, with whom he reached the position of one of the German single charts. The title demo (Last day) was, as the title suggests, a day before the album was sent to the pressing plants recorded.

Genesis

Four years had passed since the previous album, everything else remains passed. Half a year after its publication died Grönemeyer's brother and his wife within a few days, after which he retired a long time. According to his own testimony, he began again with the music, because he was afraid to lose her. Man was for him to help with the mourning process; so the songs deal mainly with the subject of grief.

After the song Demo ( Last Day ) follows silence to 17:30 min. This is followed by a hidden track, the Herberts son Felix sings.

A total of four singles were released from the album: Human, The way demo ( Last Day ) and to the sea.

Tour

In August 2002 the album man appeared. As of 2002, Herbert Grönemeyer toured as part of its "Happy yesterday to man " - tour through Germany.
