Mentuhotep III.

Mentuhotep III. was the sixth king of ancient Egypt (Pharaoh) of the 11th Dynasty ( Middle Kingdom ) and at first ruled from 2013 to 2010 BC as co-regent with his father before he BC alone continued his reign from 2010 to 2001. The Royal Canon of Turin twelve years of the reign are occupied.

Origin

Mentuhotep III. was the son of his predecessor Mentuhotep II and his wife Tem. A wife of Mentuhotep III. can not yet be identified with certainty.

Documents

He is primarily known by its numerous temples in Upper Egypt, of which usually only individual reliefs are preserved. He also appears in the list of kings of Saqqara and at Abydos in the two lists: List of Kings Seti I and Ramses II, King List, he is not out in the King List of Karnak.

In 1904 it was discovered on a mountain in Western Thebes, the remains of a temple, which was dedicated to the god Horus and in the time of Mentuhotep III. dated. It measures 21 m × 24 m and contained three chapels. The upstream pylon of the temple remains are the oldest detectable pylons of Egypt.

The Vizier of the ruler was probably Dagi, whose career began under Mentuhotep II already. Treasurer continued Meketre and (upper ) was Henenu money manager who led an expedition to Punt for the ruler.
