Merankhre Mentuhotep

Meranchre Mentuhotep (V.) was an ancient Egyptian King (Pharaoh) of the Second Intermediate Period (ca. 1780-1550 BC). Its exact position is uncertain.

Mer -ankh - Re ( correct: Meri - ankh - Re) Mentuhotep is only known by two statues. One of these statues found in the temple of Amun-Re at Karnak and dedicated to Sobek. It is now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The other statue is now in the British Museum. Their origin is unknown. Can be assumed based on the locality of the statue that the ruler reigned in Upper Egypt or at least in Thebes. Kim Ryholt therefore assigns it to its 16th dynasty, which he defines as thebanisch. Other writers see him as a ruler of the 13th Dynasty.
