Mercedes Department

Mercedes is a department in the center of the province of Corrientes in the north- eastern Argentina and one of 25 administrative units in the province. With 9588 km ² it is the largest area of ​​the department of the province, in which 39 206 inhabitants (2001, INDEC ) live.

The department Mercedes bordered to the north by the departments of San Roque, Concepción and Ituzaingó, on the west by the departments of San Martín de los Libres and Paso, on the south by the Departamento Curuzú Cuatiá and on the east by the department of Lavalle.

Economy
