Mercy Cherono

Mercy Cherono (born 7 May 1991 Kericho ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner.

In 2007, she became Junior World Champion in 3000 -meter run in Ostrava. At the Track World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz in 2008, she won over the same distance also the title. In 2009, she finished third in junior race at the World Cross Country Championships in Amman, ranked second in the individual and in the team competition. In the same year she was in junior Bambous Africa champion in the 3000 meters and second in the 5000 -meter run.

At the World Cross Country Championships 2010 in Bydgoszcz, she won the junior women race the title in the individual competition and led the Kenyan team to victory in the national rankings. In the same year she won at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton gold medal in the 3000 -meter run and the silver medal in the 5000 meters.

In the Cross Country Championships 2011 in Africa Cape Town Cherono won the women's race. At the world championships in the same year she was fifth in the 5000m.
