Mercy Streets

Mercy Streets - road of forgiveness ( Original title: Mercy Streets ) is a published in 2000 film drama and was the directorial debut of independent filmmaker Jon Gunn, showing an in parts reminiscent of Cain and Abel story of feuding brothers here. Its main character David White plays a dual role as a gangster and a priest. Eric Roberts acts as a crime boss and Stacy Keach as a divorced man of God.

Action

The twin brothers John and Jeremiah were separated at an early age in the orphanage and have completely lost sight of. John has spent his entire childhood in homes and feels since abandoned by his brother down. Jeremiah, however, has grown up in the belief that John had died at that time. While John came under the influence of the criminal Rome and still works for him, Jeremiah grew up in a religious family and now serves as chaplain of the Episcopal Church. When John because of awkwardness and bad luck will lose a large sum of cash, he flees the raging Rome and held for Jeremiah. The real Jeremiah, however, is held by Rome for John and captured. So it follows that the two separately grown brothers who knew nothing of the life of the other, suddenly the roles have changed and are facing unexpected tasks. It manages two men to adapt to each new situation. John hates Jeremiah finally that he led a comfortable life as Jeremiah and John hates that he has become a criminal. In the end it is between the two led to a dramatic showdown with an uncertain outcome.

Background

In the commentary on the DVD version says the writer-director Jon Gunn, Eric Roberts had initially assumed that he should even play the two dissimilar brothers.
