Merit Cross for War Aid

The Distinguished Service Cross for War Aid was founded on December 5, 1916 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. It could be imparted to all men and women who had distinguished themselves in the Auxiliary Service.

Design and carrying method

The religious character is an eight-pointed cross of gray fine zinc and shows in the medallion the inscription FOR WAR ASSISTANCE and including two crossed oak branches, the back surmounted by a crown, the initial WR ( William Rex ).

Was driven over the award to a white, six- and-black striped, red-rimmed ribbon on the left chest.
