Merk (coin)

Wish was the (originally by Mark (weight) ) derived name of a Scottish silver coin.

The value of a Merks was 13 shillings and 4 pence. The coin was first under the Scottish king James VI. in the 1570s as a semi - Wish (also known as silver - Nobel (coin) referred to ) marked. From Wish there was also quarter and double plays. The double piece wore as a motif on the back of the Scottish national symbol, the thistle and was called due to the similar to the German thaler weight as Thistle dollars ( thistle - pounds). Wish coins were minted also among the kings Charles I and Charles II until late in the 2nd half of the 17th century in and were still in the 18th century in Scotland in circulation.
