Merna Kennedy

Merna Kennedy (actually Maude Kahler; born September 7, 1908 in Kankakee, Illinois, † December 20, 1944 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American actress.

Life

She was a close friend of Charlie Chaplin's second wife, Lita Grey. The friendship ended in 1927 when Lita Grey learned of the affair between Merna and her husband. As a leading actress of Chaplin's film The Circus in 1928 she gave her film debut. Before the actress in 1934 retired from the film business, she turned a few less successful silent and sound films.

Merna Kennedy was married from 1934 to 1935 with the actor and director Busby Berkeley. She died at the age of only 36 years of heart failure.
