Merogais

Merogaisus was a Frankish king in the 4th century.

About Merogaisus little is known. He was defeated by 306 by Constantine the Great and together with the also captured Frankish king Ascaricus the animals in the amphitheater of Augusta Treverorum (modern Trier) accused. Both had advanced on Roman territory, but was eventually caught and defeated by Constantine. Merogaisus Possibly belonged together with Merobaudes the first representatives of the Merovingians.
