Merritt Giffin

Merritt Giffin ( Merritt Hayward Giffin, born August 20, 1887 † July 11, 1911 in Joliet, Illinois) was an American discus thrower.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1908 he won with 40,70 m silver medal behind Martin Sheridan ( 40.89 m ) and before Bill Horr ( 39.44 m).

His personal best of 42.06 meters he set up in the same year. In 1910 he became U.S. champion.
