Mersey River (Nova Scotia)

Mersey River in Liverpool

The Mersey River is a river in the southeast of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.

He springs from the Kejimkujik Lake in Kejimkujik National Park and flows through Lake Rossignol and finally in the city of Liverpool to flow into the Atlantic. Its tributaries are the Shelburne River ( flows into the Lake Rossignol ), West River and the Little River.

The river was an important transportation route of indigenous people of Nova Scotia, the Mi'kmaq Indians. Later, during the period of colonization by the British, it was used as a transport route for the logs from the interior of the country. Nowadays you will find some smaller hydropower stations along the river.
