Mersing is a city ( and also the name of the surrounding district ) in the north- east of the Malaysian state of Johor in the South China Sea.

Mersing is located 136 km north-east of Johor Bahru, the capital of the state. It can be reached by bus from Kota Tinggi, Johor Bahru or directly from Singapore.

The city has about 28,000 inhabitants and is originally a fishing village. Its port in the delta of Mersing river starting point of many ferries to the islands of the archipelago Seribuat or Tioman and is therefore frequented mainly on weekends from Malaysian and foreign tourists. It also provides some self- accommodation and many restaurants. Tourist noteworthy is in the city itself only of the 95 -year-old Taoist and Buddhist Fushun Temple.

In Mersing is also the district hospital.
