Mesaoria

The Mesaoria, Greek Μεσαορία ( " between the hills " ), Turkish Mesarya Ovasi, is a fertile alluvial plain on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.

After its formation around a hundred million years Cyprus consisted of two limestone islands. For a period of about seventy million years ago Cyprus was separated by a strip of sea. By volcanic eruptions it has been closed, and the Troodos Mountains arose.
