Mescherin

Mescherin is a municipality in the northeast of the county Uckermark. It is in the state of Brandenburg ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Gartz (Oder ), located in the eponymous city. It was created on 31 December 2002 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Mescherin, Neurochlitz, Radekow and Rosow.

Geography

The municipality is located in the western area of ​​a terminal moraine, which is on the western edge of the Oder valley with heights of about 65 m above sea level. NN stretches along. History

1297 Mescherin was first mentioned in a gift certificate. After the Thirty Years War, which drew the whole area heavily affected, Mescherin was 72 years to Swedish Pomerania.

In the mid-19th century, from initial sand pits a real mining site. 1857 were built over the Oder two wooden bridges, 1911 was followed by an iron bridge that was destroyed after prolonged fighting in 1945. By 1945 Mescherin was a part of the Prussian province of Pomerania.

With the construction of weekend homes and a campsite in 1977 the development of the community for tourism began. In 1999, the bastion was restored to the West Or, so that today also sport boats can create there.

Transport links

Mescherin is the end point of the B 113, which crosses two kilometers west of Mescherin B 2 ( Schwedt / Oder - Szczecin). The B 113 performs in twelve kilometers from the motorway connecting the A 11 Penkun The nearest train station is located in the neighboring municipality Tantow on the railway line between Berlin and Szczecin.
