Mesenich on the Mosel is a wine village in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. The municipality belongs to the municipality of Cochem. Mesenich is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Mesenich is located six kilometers south of the town of Cochem on the lower reaches and in the Mosel valley. This expands here to a maximum of 500 m, the Mesenich opposite steep percussion slopes rise more than 200 meters above the river. History

The village was mentioned for the first time in 1050 in connection with a donation of Poland Queen Richeza to the Benedictine Abbey Brauweiler documented. The late Baroque- classicist Brauweiler Hof served until the end of the 18th century as a tithe. After the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops of the monastic property was sold in 1802. 1815 it to the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.
