Mesopause

The mesopause is the atmospheric boundary layer between the mesosphere and thermosphere. Its position is defined by the second minimum of the atmospheric temperature profile. The mesopause in summer is at a height of about 80 to 85 km away and in winter at an altitude of about 100 km.

According to the definition of NASA and the U.S. Air Force Space begins at an altitude of about 80 km (50 miles) above the ground and therefore corresponds approximately to the mesopause. However, this definition is only one of several.
