Mesoporous material
Mesoporous solids ( meso (Greek ) = between, in the middle) are according to IUPAC definition, porous materials with pore diameters between 2 nm and 50 nm The first materials were silicates of the so-called M41S family and were established in 1992 by researchers at the Mobil Oil Group.
Classification of porous materials according to their pore size:
Microporous: pores < 2 nm
Mesoporous: pore size between 2 and 50 nm
Macroporous: pores > 50 nm
