Mesopotamia, Argentina

The Argentine landscape Mesopotamia lies between the two rivers Río Paraná and Río Uruguay.

Mesopotamia is made up of three provinces, these are:

  • Entre Ríos, plains with grass and palm forests
  • Corrientes, lowland, mostly swampy
  • Misiones, hilly and forested

Climate

Climatically the area is allocated to the sub-tropics, without a pronounced rainy season. The summer temperatures are between 30 and 40 degrees C, the winter temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees C.

Population

There was no bridge over the Río Paraná, the area has long been isolated from the rest of Argentina, so it was also colonized quite late. The immigrants came largely from Russia, Poland and Asia.

  • Posadas
  • Gualeguaychú
