Mesquite is a city in Clark County in the U.S. state of Nevada. It lies in the valley of the Virgin River on the border of Arizona and about 120 km northeast of Las Vegas. In 2006, Mesquite had nearly 15,000 inhabitants; Acting Mayor Susan Hole check. Mesquite is home to several casinos and golf courses.

History

Mesquite was founded in 1880 by Mormon pioneers who named the place Mesquite Flat. The name was later shortened to Mesquite. The establishment of a settlement was not until the third attempt, after she had previously been flooded by the Virgin River.
