Mesquite is a city in close proximity to Dallas in the U.S. state of Texas in Dallas County and Kaufman County.

History

The city was founded on May 22, 1873 A. R. Alcott, who bought the land of present-day Mesquite. Mesquite remained dominated by agriculture until after the second world war. In 1950 the town had 1,696 inhabitants, in 1970 already 55 131 inhabitants. In 1958 for the first time the championships in rodeo in Mesquite instead. 1986 opened for the first time the doors of the Mesquite Arena (now Resistol Arena) for the rodeo.
