Messerich

Fair Rich is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

History

Convenient location in the Bitburger Gutland has already attracted Roman settlers. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1066 as Miezriche. Until the French period fair Rich belonged to the provost Bitburg in the Duchy of Luxembourg.

In 2004, the community received a silver medal in the competition Our village is beautiful - Our village has a future in the federal decision.

Parish council

The local council in fair Rich consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The previous council consisted of eight councilors.

Coat of arms

Symbol of the centuries-long conjunction of exhibition Rich by Malberg is the golden blazon. The red Tournament collar symbolizes the lords of Manderscheid - Kail than previous landlords. The appearance of the Romanesque columns and arch of the tabernacle show parts of the typical church inventory.

Attractions

Traffic

Railway

Fair Rich was station on the branch line Erdorf - Bitburg- Irrel Hedgehog ( Nims Sauer Valley Railway ). After closure of the railway and demolition of the railway tracks (1997) has existed since 2002 on the route of a bike path. The station building for many years is already privately owned.
