Messier 53

Messier 53 (also known as NGC 5024 ) is a galactic globular cluster in the constellation Coma Berenices with an apparent size of 12.6 ' and an apparent magnitude of 8.33 mag. A distance of about 18 kpc (about 60 KLJ ) was determined by analysis of the RR Lyrae variables in M53.
