Messier (automobile)

Messier Automobiles was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company History

George Messier had a factory for pneumatic devices in Montrouge. He also developed a kind of air suspension for various automobiles. In 1920 he founded Messier Automobiles and marketed the suspension. From 1924 he produced their own models. The brand name was Messier. In 1931 he gave to the production and worked on aircraft landing gear.

Rolling stock

The first models possessed a four-cylinder engine of CIME. The version for racing cars had OHC valve timing and 1494 cc displacement and the version for touring cars and sedans had OHC valve timing and 1598 cc capacity. Later, six-cylinder engines came with 2770 cc and 3310 cc engine capacity and eight-cylinder engines with 3692 cc and 4850 cc for use. The largest engine came from Lycoming, the other engines is only known that they were from American manufacturers. The Type H with eight-cylinder engine was available with two different wheelbases of 3401 mm and 3604 mm. Many of the vehicles produced by the Type 50 H were karosseriert as an ambulance.

A vehicle of this make was to visit the Musée Automobile Reims Champagne in Reims in 2002.
