Mesum is a village on the river Ems, in Westphalia. It is a district of Rheine in the district of Steinfurt.

Geography

History

Today's Mesum evolved from the independent since 1373 parish of St. John Baptist Mesum.

On 1 January 1975 Mesum was incorporated into the city of Rheine.

Population Development

Churches

In Mesum are three churches, two of which are Roman Catholic and one Protestant. The old church in the cemetery is the oldest building in the city of Rheine.
