History

In 1923, Albrecht Schnizler built in Nürtingen in his parents' bakery, the first hand-held drill. The machine was under the name No. 18 over 50,000 copies sold, 1924 Schnizler GmbH was founded. Co-founder was Julius Closs, owner of the former Sun Brewery in Nürtingen. The company moved into the building the sun brewery in Church Street, which had emerged from the earlier Nürtinger cavalry barracks. 1927 Walter Rauch became a partner in the company and took over the management of sales at home and abroad. In 1932 the company was renamed Metabo works Closs, Rauch & Schnizler KG.

In late autumn 1945, the war only slightly damaged factory burned down to 75 percent and was built up again in 1948.

The rapid growth of the company made ​​a relocation of corporate headquarters is required. 1953 was therefore begun to build a new plant in the industrial area Metabo Steinach. 1969 was finally concluded with the completion of the new administration building, the relocation of the company to its present location.

1999 Metabo group began to regroup, the company Elektra Beckum in Meppen was taken. 2004 arranged Metabo its production plants new, the factory in Shanghai was opened. 2006 Elektra Beckum went completely into metabolites. 2010 was completed with the sale of the plant in Meppen, the reorganization of production.
