Metallophone

As Metalophones are a group of bar games that consist of a set of tuned metal plates and are struck with mallets.

Belonging to the idiophones Metalophones have a centuries-old tradition, especially in Balinese and Javanese gamelan music, especially in the Asian region. From the 17th century, they were introduced to Europe, where developed their own forms.

Carl Orff Schulwerk used in its several kinds of metallophonic and carillons.

In orchestras of Western art music occasionally, ( The Magic Flute ) and Wagner used keyboard chimes in about Mozart, from which later developed into the celesta.
