Metamorphopsia

Metamorphopsia (gr. " metamorphic " = " remodel ", " opsie " = "see" ) refers to a distorted perception of the environment or of themselves in relation to the environment. Can be caused by neurological or psychological disorders or physical diseases of the eye.

The following misperceptions are counted as metamorphopsia:

  • Micropsia (Greek " micros " = " small" ): the environment or parts are perceived less than actually
  • Macropsia (gr. " macros " = "large" ): the environment or parts of it are perceived larger than actually
  • Dysmorphopsie: parts of the environment are perceived distorted
  • Teleopsie: parts of the environment are further away than actually perceived
  • Distorted color perception, color change
