Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia (from Greek metatarsus " midfoot " and algos "pain" ) is the medical term for midfoot occurring, often stress-related pain, as far as the second to fifth beam ( toes and associated metatarsal ) is affected. Diseases of the first beam are performed separately.

The differential diagnosis is to distinguish between primary metatarsalgia with a locally midfoot to be localized and cause secondary metatarsalgia in systemic diseases (eg, rheumatism, gout, arterial bleeding disorder).

The primary metatarsalgia can be further classified on the basis of affected structures:

The Spreizfußdeformität significantly predominates in practice and can cause both bones, joints and soft tissues of various disorders.
