Metauro

Metaurus is a river in Italy, the brand flows through the region.

Geography

The Metaurus consists of the two rivers Meta and Auro, both of which originate in the Apennines, in the Umbria region. These two rivers unite then in the municipality Borgo Pace, and the Metaurus then flows east through the Marche region in Italy. Finally, the river flows north-east and flows further south of Fano in the Adriatic Sea.

History

The Metaurus (Latin Metaurus ) was in the history site of two battles. 207 BC, the battle took place on Metaurus in which Hasdrubal, Hannibal 's brother, Gaius Claudius Nero defeated by and was killed, instead of on the banks of this river; and 271 AD, Emperor Aurelian defeated the Alamanni in the Battle of Fano, also on the banks of Metaurus.
