Meteor Records

The Meteor Records were an American record label. Meteor published mainly rockabilly and blues tracks.

History

Established were the Meteor Records 1952 by the Bihari brothers in Memphis, Tennessee, who had also been the Modern Records in Los Angeles. The first single that appeared on the label, was I Believe / I Held My Baby Last Night of the blues musician Elmore James. The next few years published the label also sheets of rockabilly and blues musicians, but mostly with little success. The last single was released in 1957, a short time later the Meteor Records were closed in favor of Modern Records of the Bihari brothers.
