Meteoropathy

Changes in the weather or Meteoropathie or Meteorotropismus means a hypersensitivity to weather phenomena such as changes in air pressure, hair dryer, heat waves, changing humidity, oppressive air or thunderstorm. It impacts on general health, mood and performance. The changes in the weather is still a largely unexplored phenomenon of medical Meteorotropie. The causes variations in air pressure and so-called atmospherics are discussed ( briefly Sferics ). So far, there are no medical studies that demonstrate a causal relationship between weather and well-being, proved merely a statistical relationship (certain changes in well-being are more common when the weather changes ). At the same time, " there are strong indications that the occurrence of non-specific symptoms often initially like the weather will be seen as a trigger ", so further studies are needed for a final assessment.

Weather sensitivity is not considered a disease but is a reduced ability to cope with the natural weather changes. There is an increased responsiveness or decreased stimulus threshold of the autonomic nervous system.

Be distinguished from changes in the weather, the weather sensitivity, which manifests itself through exacerbation of existing diseases, local discomfort and pain.
