2-butanone oxime is a chemical compound selected from the group of the oximes. It is a colorless, volatile liquid with aromatic odor.
Production and representation
2-butanone oxime can be obtained by catalytic ammoxidation of 2-butanone.
Use
2- butanone oxime paints and protective coatings for wood at low concentration (<1% ) was added as anti-skinning agents. It continues to be used in polyurethane processing, as a corrosion inhibitor and as an intermediate for the preparation of derivative compounds.
Safety
The vapors of 2 -butanone oxime can combine with air to form an explosive mixture when heated above its flash point of 58 ° C. Furthermore, it should be noted that the connection in animal studies to cause cancer (affecting lifetime inhalation in mice and rats with increased likelihood of liver carcinomas ) has been found and initiates contact with skin allergies.
Proof
After appropriate sample preparation for the content of 2- butanone oxime can be measured by gas chromatography with a nitrogen- selective detector.
