MetNet

MetNet is a Finnish- Russian Mars program in which space probes with several small countries to be sold on Mars, which are to build a Observierungsnetzwerk to the study of the atmosphere, structure and meteorology of the planet. The program is led by the Finnish Meteorological Institute. For system engineering, the Russian aerospace company Lavochkin is responsible. Other project partners are the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Spanish Space Agency Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA ).

The first aircraft ( precursor mission) with one or a few countries to be held until 2019. The most possible earliest start time is 2014, when the launch window opens again to Mars. A flight as a secondary load of the Russian Mars mission Phobos -Grunt to start in November 2011 was considered but discarded for reasons of weight. With further missions eventually to several dozen countries should be discontinued.
