Metroplex (record label)

Metroplex is an American techno label.

The label was founded in 1985 by Juan Atkins. It is next to Transmat and KMS Records as one of the main Detroit Techno label in the 1980s and 90s. The distribution of the plates via the distributor Submerge.

History

The first single No UFO's was published in 1985 and is generally regarded as the first techno record. Atkins published on Metroplex under numerous pseudonyms such as Model 500, Channel One, Kreem ( collaboration with Kevin Saunderson ), Triple XXX, Infiniti, Flintstones. Further singles released from Eddie Flashin ' Fowlkes, Keith Tucker ( Member of AUX 88) and X - Ray ( collaboration between Atkins and Saunderson with May ).

Appeared in 1993 with " Jazz Is The Teacher ," a collaboration between Atkins and the Berlin artists 3MB ( Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann ). Other notable publications were obtained from Anthony Shakir ( 1993 Shake), Robert Hood (1996 as The Vision), Terrence Dixon (1996 and 1997 as one population ) and DJ Bone ( 1999).

The most recent publication dates from 2004, a year later appeared on the Berlin label Tresor Records a 20 Years Metroplex: . 1985-2005 titled retrospective of the label.
