Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia

The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia ( MPDC short ) in Washington, DC is one of the largest municipal police authorities of the United States. Its jurisdiction covers the District of Columbia, however, numerous objects of the federal capital are protected by various police forces of the federal government ( for example the United States Capitol Police, United States Park Police, United States Secret Service Police, etc.).

MPDC was founded in 1861 and today employs approximately 3,800 police officers and 600 other employees. Is headed by Chief Cathy L. authority currently Lanier.
